Murray Wallace

Murray Wallace is Chairman of ICPEI Holdings Inc. Mr. Wallace is also currently on the Board of Directors of ICPEI, the Ascot Insurance Group Limited and Bode Canada. He was formerly a Director of both the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Axia NetMedia Corporation. He has previously served as a Director of Western Surety Ltd., London Insurance Group, Crown Life Insurance Co. and Queen’s University School of Business advisory Board, among others. Mr. Wallace brings extensive experience in the financial services industry, gained from former roles as CEO of Granite Global Solutions and Wellington Insurance, and as President of Axia NetMedia and Avco Financial Services Canada Ltd. Mr. Wallace is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.


Serge Lavoie

Serge Lavoie is President and Chief Executive Officer of ICPEI Holdings Inc. and it’s subsidiary, The Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island (ICPEI). Before assuming his current role with ICPEI, Serge served as President of Echelon Insurance. Mr. Lavoie has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, previously serving as Chief Executive Officer and President at JEVCO Insurance Company. Throughout his career, he has served on a number of boards and committees, including the Canadian Insurance Claims Manager Association (CICMA) and the Groupement des Assureurs Automobiles (GAA). Mr. Lavoie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Quebec University of Montreal.


Robert Ghiz

Robert Ghiz is President and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA). In addition to ICPEI Holdings Inc., he serves as an Advisor on numerous Boards including the Prince’s Trust Advisory Council, the True Patriot Love Foundation and the Medavie Blue Cross. Mr. Ghiz is also the Chair of ICPEI, the Chair of Mobile Giving Foundation Canada and the Chair of the Medavie Foundation. Twice elected Premier of Prince Edward Island, Robert’s many accomplishments include his successful stewardship of PEI’s economy through the 2008 global financial collapse and his contributions to its record-setting economic growth following the recession. While Premier, Robert also led successful trade missions in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States. Robert is proud to be the Canadian wireless industry’s champion in Ottawa, where he works to ensure the industry continues to enhance the personal lives and economic opportunities of Canadians across the country.


Ken Coulson

Ken Coulson is ICPEI Holdings’ General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1989, Mr. Coulson spent 25 years as a litigation counsel to a number of Canadian property and casualty insurers. In 2014 Mr. Coulson was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Echelon Financial Holdings Inc. and Echelon Insurance. Mr. Coulson has extensive experience in board governance having been a member and corporate secretary to a number of corporate and not-for-profit enterprises. Throughout his career Mr. Coulson has held numerous leadership roles and people management responsibilities. Mr. Coulson is a member of Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and Governance Professionals of Canada.


Surender Sekhon

Surender Sekhon has a bachelor’s degree in math with a specialization in actuarial science. She has worked at Desjardins for 20 years. She started out as an actuarial advisor at Desjardins General Insurance Group and played a key role in integrating State Farm’s Canadian operations. She later became a manager, first leading a department focused on actuarial ratemaking and business solutions, and then one focused on underwriting operations. In 2018, she joined the Commercial Lines Division as Director, Actuarial Services and Underwriting and is now the vice-president of Commercial Lines at DGIG. Surender is a great team player and a natural leader. She’s known for her analytical skills and her ability to achieve strategic objectives.


Sylvain Messier

Sylvain Messier is the CFO & Vice-President Finance and Corporate Actuarial of Desjardins General Insurance Group (DGIG). He is responsible for managing the financial strength and performance of the organization, including financial and capital planning, maximizing the performance of the investment portfolio, protecting the sector against major insurance risks with the reinsurance program, participating to the strategic decision-making, and monitoring and explaining results.

Prior to this, he was Vice-President Finance at Desjardins Group since 2016, where he was responsible for the Finance Transformation Program. From 2014 to 2016, Sylvain oversaw the financial operations of DGIG and its subsidiaries as Vice-President of Finance.

Before joining Desjardins, Sylvain also served as Vice-President of Finance and later as Vice- President of Strategy and Development at Standard Life Canada for more than 15 years. He also worked in the treasury department for a major public Canadian company after serving as an audit and assurance manager for one of the major worldwide audit firms.

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA, CA) since 1993, Sylvain also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) in 1997, the Advanced Leadership Program at McGill University in 2008, and the JMW – Scotland Breakthrough Leadership Program in 2011. He recently obtained the Certified Directors designation (ASC, C.Dir) from Laval University, and is active in various boards of Directors and Committees.


Haseeb Rehman

Haseeb Rehman is Vice-President of Personal Lines Underwriting and Client Complaint Management Centre at Desjardins. Leading functional and operational teams, he is responsible for optimizing insurance risk management to support profitable growth and client experience through underwriting strategies and playing an active role in the development of personal lines insurance solutions. His mandate includes client complaint management teams that accompany clients as a neutral intermediary through the resolution of their complaints.

Haseeb has been with Desjardins General Insurance Group since 2016, holding leadership roles in Actuarial functions in the Actuarial, Analytics and Underwriting administrative department. Most Recently, he led the Automobile and Business Solutions actuarial teams responsible for pricing, modelling, and bringing actuarial and analytical expertise to other parts of the organization such as marketing, claims and distribution for personal lines automobile business outside of Quebec. He plays an active role in several committees throughout the organization, and is active outside the organization through various industry committees, forums and consultations.

An Actuary by training, he is a Fellow of both the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
